Iran Refractories Company

IREFCO at a glance

The Iran Refractories Company (IREFCO) was founded in February of 1972 with the goal of addressing the country's industrial demands for different kinds of refractories. It began production in April of 1977 with a notional capacity of 48,000 tons.

Following the glorious Islamic Revolution's victory, development projects in response to the growing demands of domestic industries for higher quality refractories were implanted, including a production line of alkaline bricks with a 22,000 tons notional capacity in 1991 and a production line of carbon magnesite bricks with a 20,000 tons notional capacity in 2002. Both of these projects were achieved by the utilization of cutting-edge equipment and the application of cutting-edge technologies, resulting in the production and distribution of a wide variety of refractories to industries. It should be mentioned that IREFCO's manufacturing and sales are dependent on order and are B2B in nature.

IREFCO's diverse product range, which has received particular attention in development projects in addition to the original design of the production line, has made this company one of the country's remarkable plants in the refractory sector. Most industries' refractories requirements are met by IREFCO's diverse products. The company's goods come in over 300 different varieties, and shaped items (bricks) are made using over 1300 different molds.

A glance at the sectors that use refractory goods reveals the industry's prominence in the nation. Refractory consumers include a large number of infrastructure sectors in the nation (iron, steel, copper, cement, aluminum, glass, ceramic tiles, oil and petrochemicals, and gypsum) as well as the vital industries of iron, steel, and cement. Refractory goods account for up to 70% of the total. IREFCO has roughly 5,000 clients.

With over ten years of quality management systems on the basis of ISO 9001 standards, IREFCO received a certificate of excellence in the initial phases of self-evaluation based on EFQM excellence models in 2014. As well, IREFCO recently received an integrated management system certification (IMS) consisting of ISO14001: 2015, ISO9001: 2015, and ISO45001 standards to make better use of management systems, enhance the quality of activities, and satisfy its responsibilities in sustainable industrial development.

The inclusion of IREFCO as the green unit of Isfahan province in the strategy for self-declaration of manufacturing units in the area of environmental pollution, as well as its selection as the green unit of Isfahan province over the last 2 years, demonstrates the responsibilities and increasingly active movement in this productional complex.
